COVID-19 PROJECT PPE – PROGRESS NOTES

Since IIT AGNE partnered with Makerspace, Makers Workshop (http://makersworkshop.com/about-us/) in Maynard, MA; the printers have been going non-stop, producing over 500 masks a week and has moved over 3,000 masks so far to several local healthcare facilities and clinics, mental health care centers as well as first responders across New England (including Tufts, hospitals in Maine and Massachusetts, as well as fire departments). We started working with several local community outreach programs to get masks to essential workers on the front lines, many of whom don’t have the means and access otherwise. We have also sent masks to nursing home employees and those working at gas stations and grocery stores.

We have also printed 35 adaptors for anesthesiologists to adapt snorkels, hoping to extend this design to more hospitals. We designed a new set of masks that fit a wider range of needs, including those of children. We are currently working on shelter outreach to help protect people providing housing to those in need; we are also helping people get proper medical testing.

We are thankful to everyone supporting us during these times while we try to flatten the curve. We are working with several other organizations and individuals in sharing our designs to make sure as many people are protected as possible. We are taking about 100 orders a week from individuals across the community in need, outside of any organizational requests.

We are approaching a surge in need on an individual level with Governor Baker’s new mandate going into effect on May 6. We are cautiously optimistic for the future, but we are still producing at full steam ahead.

IIT AGNE has decided to match $-for-$ of your contributions, up to $5000. Our goal is to double the output and produce 1000 masks a week. 100% of your donation will support this cause.
